UDAY'S SMOKING GUN

A reader writes in with this observation:

Saddam's son has just given us the "smoking gun."
He has said approximately: If America attacks
Iraq, we will produce devastation in America that
will make 9/11 look like a minor problem.

Well now.... since we know that Iraq has no long-range
ICBMs, and doesn't have enough bombers to get through
our air defenses, this can only mean one thing:

Iraq has a terrorist network already in place within the US.

This should especially satisfy the traitorous scorpions
(like McDermott and Penn) who believe Iraq more than
they believe Bush. This was stated by Iraq, not by Bush,
so it must be gospel truth.

Well, Uday's comments could mean at least two other things: that Iraq is planning a chemical counterattack of some sort, or that the Iraqi regime is as delusional as ever. I'm betting on the latter, but either way Uday has given us justification to take out his daddy's regime. And it would seem logical that McDermott et al would take Uday's comments more seriously than anything coming from President Bush. Iraq is merely a sworn enemy, but the President wants to cut taxes! The horror...

references to a smoking gun and logic seem moot at best… iraq has been in material breach from day one. nothing Uday says will change the anti-war mind, period. those of us that understand and back the “war on terror” are losing patience. im holding judgement until gw’s upcoming speech, but if we dont move soon bush will lose much of his credibility.

If poll numbers are to be believed, Jabo may speak for a lot of people out there.

Experience suggests Bush will slam-dunk the speech, leaving his critics in disarray. Again.

Uday threatened biological warfare in September 2001 — a week before the first case of anthrax appeared. I don’t think his threat’s empty.

GW had better “slam-dunk” it. This is getting rediculous. And having “been there and done that” I can tell you that we don’t need a year to get ready!

“doesn’t have enough bombers to get through our air defenses”

Just a thought, but the 9/11 highjackers didn’t need bombers to get through our air defenses. They were allowed to take those airliners where they wanted virtually unchallenged. Most articles about security on the home soil is discouraging to say the least.

Syl, that’s what the excerpt was saying:

“…this can only mean one thing:

Iraq has a terrorist network already in place within the US.”

I should add that the hijacked airliners on 9/11/01 were such hugely effective weapons because their fuel tanks were full, which is because they took off from American airports.

All other comments and the blog being correct, I noticed another translation or a differen’t quote of the same statement, and what that version stated was that if the US started bombing Iraq the destruction there would make 9/11 look like a minor problem. Changes it from a threat to a warning of their other card - strutting around with claims of humanitarian disasters caused by us. Any translation is subject to spin, and although I certainly don’t think of Saddam’s Iraq as anything better than what other posters state, but we have to be aware of propaganda penetrating the news media.

This goes along with something I speculated in another of your comments areas.

I said that maybe Iraq isn’t lying when they say they have no NBC weapons in Iraq, because they’ve already given them away to various terrorist organizations. That the inspectors found empty chemical warheads may also support this.

Scary thought.
