John Foreign? Feckless? Kerry is a charming chap:

His next trip down, a reporter and a camera crew were allowed to follow along on skis � just in time to see Mr. Kerry taken out by one of the Secret Service men, who had inadvertently moved into his path, sending him into the snow.
When asked about the mishap a moment later, he said sharply, "I don't fall down," then used an expletive to describe the agent who "knocked me over."

The incident occurred near the summit. No one was hurt, and Mr. Kerry came careering down the mountain moments later, a look of intensity on his face, his lanky frame bent low to the ground.

Cuss the agents sworn to protect you with their lives? Nice.

Do You Know Where I Ski?

I’d say take the Secret Service away from him and let the ketchup queen bankroll the security for the ungrateful (expletive). If something did happen to him though, he’d end up being a made-by-the-media Massachusets martyr.

One good thing about long campaigns is that we get to see a few unscripted honest moments from the candidates. The people may not be watching the Issues closely, but they do understand that skiing is a solitary, aristocratic narcissistic sport. “I do not fall” nicely reinforces that impression.

NASCAR vs skiing.… Baseball vs skiing… It’s not an Issue, but it’s a meaningful difference in terms of what America expects from a president.

Well, mightn’t you cuss the agent sworn to protect your life when the agent instead actually endangers your life? I have to admit, I’d be pretty miffed at the quality of the guy’s performance, too. Sure, accidents happen, but aren’t secret service agents especially trained to avoid and prevent accidents, particularly ones that involve the safety of their client?

Secret service agents are specially trained to watch the crowd and neutralize any threats. (Presumably Kerry won’t be offing himself, so they won’t be watching him). Kerry’s job is to stay out of their way and let them do their jobs. Crashing into them and then calling them names is not what I call facilitating their jobs. These are bodyguards, not butlers.

Even if you give Kerry a pass for being miffed, the “I don’t fall” line is pretty telling. What type of person above the age of eight says something like that?

Besides, similar to what Zhang said, these are bodyguards not Olympic skiers. Mistakes do happen on the slopes.
