STUPID POLITICIAN TRICKS

Our troops continues to win the war on the ground wherever and whenever they fight, but our political leadership appears intent on throwing battlefield wins away to score cheap and stupid political points.

Outgoing HHS Secretary Tommy Thompson, giving terrorists advice for killing Americans in his resignation speech:

"For the life of me, I cannot understand why the terrorists have not attacked our food supply because it is so easy to do," he said.

Uh, thanks. That's tantamount to Gen Eisenhower declaring, circa June 3, 1944, "I can't imagine for the life of my why the Germans haven't rushed a couple of Panzer divisions up toward Normandy. It's obvious that all of that materiel we've place off of Calais is just a feint, which means we're obviously coming in from the south. So why hasn't Hitler fortified those beaches around Normandy to stop our climactic, world-changing invasion? Beats me."

Not to be outdone, Senators Joe Biden (D-Tehran) and Chuck Hagel (R-Damascus) turn victory in Fallujah into defeat across Iraq:

"We've won everything we've tried to do, including Fallujah," Biden told ABC's "This Week." "But then we've lacked the resources to secure what we've won. And we're still paying an awesome price for the initial failures on policy of this administration, of going in with too little power and too little legitimacy."

Biden had just returned from a trip to Iraq with his Senate Foreign Relations Committee colleague Chuck Hagel, who told reporters on Thursday, "I did not find one commander who said to me, 'We're winning.'"

One "commander" who thinks we're winning is Abu Musab al-Zarqawi:

"Hundreds of thousands of the nation's sons are being slaughtered at the hands of the infidels," an alarmed Zarqawi announced.

Blaming Sunni clerics for not supporting his reign of terror, the enemy leader complained that U.S. forces were "inflicting the worst suffering, cutting the throats of the holy warriors."

Zarqawi recognizes that the loss of fortress Fallujah is a serious defeat for him and a major victory for us. If he sees that, why don't Hagel and Biden? This country deserves better leadership than these clowns.

If you've run across similarly counter-productive or morale-crushing tricks from our politicians, email them to me or leave them in comments on this post.

Sure, maybe Thompson was anxious about the security of America’s food supply. But why did he have to say that in PUBLIC???

He’s either stupid, or he’s just trying to embarrass someone.

Thompson is an idiot, and Biden is a horses ass. I don’t know enough about Hagel to comment on which type of farm animal ass most resembles.

Seems to me that Thompson must be being forcibly “resigned”, and is doing his best to embarrass the administration or to whip up a firestorm for his successor to deal with. Either way, it is a stupid, stupid thing to do.
