In Darfur, where tens of thousands have died in a one-sided mix of ethnic/religious fighting and civil war, the United Nations sees no genocide. Actually, what it sees is a way to embarass the United States, which has been calling Darfur a case of genocide for months.
I doubt the UN can embarass the US any more than has already been done. “Calling it Genocide for months” indeed! How about call it, then act the next day? Words are starting to lose their power to outrage. Albright admitted we were killing loads of Iraqis with sanctions, and said too bad. Gonzalez and gang OK torture, and America shrugs.
