SEN. LANDRIEU: BROWN RESIGNATION NOT ENOUGH

Sen. Mary Landrieu, fresh from melting down like the NO PD during several national television appearances over the weekend, says the resignation of now former FEMA Director Michael Brown isn't enough to solve the relief problems.

This blog agrees with Sen. Landrieu. Gov. Kathleen Blanco should resign immediately or be removed from office. Mayor Ray Nagin should resign immediately or be removed from office. And LA Lt Gov Mitch Landrieu--Sen. Mary Landrieu's brother--should resign as well. Everyone involved in Louisiana's and New Orleans' disaster preparedness planning should also resign or be removed from office. They failed their constituents. They need to find other work.

Along with Brown's departure, these proposed resignations/impeachments/recalls won't solve the relief problems. But they would go along way toward getting those responsible for the debacle out of the way as the rebuilding gets going. It would also demonstrate that officials will be held accountable for their failures.

Hey BP,

I couldn’t agree more. I have to be frank, though. Nothing makes me happier than seeing race-baiting Democrats eat so much crow that they fart feathers.

I totally agree with Senator Landrieu! Michael Brown’s resignation is not enough! I hear she is doing all in her power to have Sean “Shotgun” Penn declared the man to head up FEMA! I guess now the National Guard will have plenty of red cups for bailing. Speaking of bailing…How’s Ray Nagin doing in Dallas? Did they offer him immunity or something? I guess the Landrieu family is about as nerveous as a hound trying to pass a peach pit through his lower intestine.

The brain-dead Senator Landrieu should also be removed from office. There are those of us who really advocate more effective means of eliminating corrupt politicians, but let’s leave it for now for the political system to work. In the end Senator Landrieu is political dead meat!

Yes, indeed. Let’s find out what money was appropriated, where it went, and who stopped the projects to fortify the levees. Let’s see a nice color chart about per capita Federal spending on Louisiana, including where it went.

Then let’s have hearings about the energy crisis, including who voted for, against, or obstructed drilling for oil, and building refineries. Let’s have a CBO estimate of how much each of these factors, including taxes, contributes to the price of gas. Let’s have the debate about tort reform, including loser pays, and the jurisdiction shopping class action lawsuits. Who got the money, and how much? Let’s have a debate about non-profits and why they enjoy their privileged status. Oil for food is chump change compared to the Social Security surplus, let’s have a debate about why Congress should not go to prison for misappropriation of our money.

I would find either hearing much more interesting than the current posturing about Roberts. In fact, I’d pay to see these hearings.
