What. Ever.

This blog isn’t popular. That much is evident. This blog gets Katrina right when everyone else—everyone else—got it wrong, yet we don’t even get an honorable mention anywhere. Several blogs that have been running on fumes for months take away accolades, we do Katrina and Truth for Troops and Just Google It and get nada. What. Ever. It’s the story of this blog’s life, I tell ya. Nobody even throws us a bone.

OKAY: I’m more irritated by the Cowboys losing because of yet another turnover yesterday than I am about being forgotten in every single blog award contest since the beginning of time. Really. And the Cowboys loss is somewhat alleviated by what the Longhorns did to Colorado in the Big 1 + 11 championship. And there are one or two real life things that have me…annoyed…right now. Pissed to the point that I resemble Darth Vader on a day when he got up on the wrong side of the stasis chamber might be a more accurate description. It’s a good thing I can’t crush tracheas with my mind. That’s all I’m saying.

You are just ahead of your time. Patience. Nobody really understood Einstein for a long time. Hopefully, you won’t have to wait as long.

Steady on, BP.

Your blog is interesting and informative, and there are some great discussions in the threads. I agree you were - way - ahead on Katrina. Stay frosty.

Be calm. The ripple effects of your blog aren’t apparent. No one is calling for you to redeem yourself and you still get read by those who appreciate this news. Thank You, from a reader who thinks JYB is the best.

OK, Boss. Who does ya want we should lean on?

I didn’t get a chance to vote for you in any of those polls, but I “vote” for you on my blog each time I link to one of our great posts.

Keep up the good work.

Is your blog accomplishing what you want it to? (Do you know what you want it to accomplish, or who your real audience is?)

If so, what’s the problem? If not, what if anything can your readers do to help.

Almost nobody links to my blog. It runs just under 75 unique visitors a day. I have no idea how many people might see it using a newsreader rather than a browser.

But it seems to be (slowly) accomplishing what I want—icreased awareness of and press coverage of problems in my local government and schools.

Do I get any recognition from the blogosphere? Absolutely none! Do I care? Not really.

But reporters and local editors assigned to what are essentially local beats on large newspapers (DC area) are starting to pick up what I write (without attribution); a few have even asked for some of my data; and a some local elected officials are taking notice and addressing issues they previously ignored.

Am I satisfied? Not really. Am I ready to give up? No way!

So, what’s important to you? Influence on policy and/or policy-makers? Recognition by the blogosphere? Something else?

I skim your headings and read some postings because you have been ahead on some issues and sometimes make me think.

That’s more than I can say for the majority of blogs in the Warblogger awards. While there are several I check regularly, there are far, far more that I have looked at once check regularly.

OK, so let’s put together an IPO and sell you to somebody!

BP, just be happy you aren’t a Packer fan.

Has Mariucci been hired by the Packers yet?

Posted by PCD on December 5, 2005 12:40 PM

I really enjoy reading your blog, don’t listen to what other people say, keep up the good work!

Like I tell my starving artist buddy, create me a piece of art. Sign it. Write a letter to go along with it including my name. Then if he is tragically killed in my lifetime maybe his artwork will take off and I can get rich! Or I can pass it on and sometime latter on the Antique Road Show a hundred years from now someone can hit paydirt. Stephen F Austin nearly faded into obscurity if it weren’t for family members that had books written so people would know all the work he had done in the shaping of Texas. Actually theses examples are probably not encouraging because you’ll have to be dead before you get your accolades! But remember what Petra said “No need to pat me on the back, stop and shake my hand, I just want to hear my father say well done!”. PS If this Blog along with your video creation skills can stop the Juggernaut Chillary it will become legendary! ;)

Coming down from that 4 year blogiversary high?

Well, you know we (except for the trolls) all love you, this is a great blog, life goes on, blah blah blah. And who would want Vader breath? Not only is it bad, but you constantly have to put up with it because of the mask - and he still has to do the Emperor’s bidding. What kind of life is that?

The Cowboys have a problem similar to several other teams: stout defense, wobbly offense. If only Julius Jones hadn’t teased you last year, you could have gotten a running back (besides A-Train!) to go with Bledsoe. No wonder Jerry Jones was playing footsies with TO.

Bryan,

As I said before, the atmosphere here is convivial, the commentary crisp and well written, and the links timely and expertly referenced. Besides. Some of those blogs get a little too cliquish and incestuous. Incidentally, I note the following humorous citation:

Most Annoying Right-Of-Center Blogger

3) Stop The ACLU (3)

3) INDC Journal (3)

2) Hugh Hewitt (4)

1) Andrew Sullivan from The Daily Dish (13)

Mr. Hewitt is sometime too smug for my tastes and, had I known this category (indeed, the voting for that matter) were extant, I would have added to the four who cast their ballots. His “blog” is precisely what should not be done: throw your opinions out there without the opportunity for immediate feedback (he allows no comments).

No, Bryan, your blog is like one of those fine restaurants, whose clientele swear by the food and service and pray desperately the great unwashed, mewling, proletariat do not discover and subsequently ruin.

Sincerely,

An elitist, right-wing snob

We don’t need TO. Julius Jones is a little bit disappointing, I’ll admit. He even spells himself too often on Madden, a sure sign that he hasn’t made a solid mark on the league yet.

Re Vader breath, that’s one of the many imponderables of Star Wars. How does he get rid of the after lunch garlic smell in that thing? And, what’s stormtrooper armor for? It never stops a blaster bullet or a light saber, so what’s the point of trotting around in all that?

”..And, what’s stormtrooper armor for? It never stops a blaster bullet or a light saber, so what’s the point of trotting around in all that?

Maybe the stormtroopers’ moms and dads had to get a collection together to buy and send them the armor. We should let the MSM know about that; they could expose that story and occupy Murtha and Biden for the next few Sundays.

Posted by k6whp on December 5, 2005 3:14 PM

It’s pretty clear that the stormtroopers were worn out and living hand to mouth, too, because they were fighting an unwinnable war. How else could a scruffy looking insurgent nerfherder like Luke Skywalker keep defeating them?

Ummm, no consolation for the Cowboys loss, as I’m a Skins/Bucs can. :)

However, I “discovered” your blog during the Katrina fiasco and now consider it one of my top 5 “must see” stops every day (along with Drudge, NRO, Washington Times, and the Telegraph). You’ve even edged out Instapundit. ;)

Keep up the great work!

No respect. I don’t get no respect. I went into a McDonald’s the other day, they said I didn’t deserve a break today.

Well, you have some readers, anyway.

You’re still at the top of my list :O)

Hey, you’re cited on p. 21 of this month’s Focus On the Family “Citizen” magazine. Wish I got that kind of attention.

As I much as I appreciate what you do BP I simply can’t feel sorry for you and the Dallas Cowboys. I am a Steelers fan we just lost to the Bengals ok!

Play Drew Henson I say . . .

Oh yeah. Well, you lost to the Ravens too. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

lol I, too, am a Ravens fan so life could be even more maddening for you, Bryan.

Hey, you get my vote each day, too. One thing that’s clear is that many of the popular blogs have gained their stature not just by providing well-written content as you do by by a rather incestuous process of linking to blogs who link back to them for some damn thing, rather than original sources. Sometimes its a good thing (as Martha would say). Other times it is more like a circle jerk. Stay away from that!
