Brave Oppressed Dissident Dixie Chicks Sweep Grammy Awards!

The decidedly overpromoted and underwhelming Dixie Chicks cleaned up at the Grammy Awards, in yet another example of the crushing of dissent in Bush's Christofascist Rethuglican AmeriKKKa. I thought it sure was nice of Karl Rove to let them out of Guantanamo to receive their awards.

They're like three sassy little Aung San Suu Kyis--with banjos!

I've never liked them, even before their flameout. If you want to hear a country band that kind of does what the Dixie Chicks were trying to do, but much better than the Chicks ever did it, do check out the Wreckers. They're easy on the ears and on the eyes, though perhaps a little on the chick-rock-country side for me.

I have absolutely no idea about their opinions of President Bush or the Iraq War. And isn't that nice for a change?

By God, it’s like we’re living in Nazi Germany. Only worse.

There was something appropriate about Natalie Maines singing “Roly Poly” on Asleep at the Wheel’s last Bob Wills tribute album.

And speaking of Bob, I believe that photo would make him holler.

Yeah, but Bob hollers if he gets enough cream cheese on his bagel. He doesn’t lack for enthusiasm.
