French Nazi Collaborator Getting Hot-Oil Spa Treatment--In Hell
Maurice Papon was 96 years old, and died after a successful career in government--both Vichy, and subsequently as a Cabinet Minister--until 1981.
But there was some justice done. The guy served three whole years in prison for his crimes, which were considerable. No thanks to the best efforts of the chief surrender monkeys:
Mr. Papon would have slipped quietly into retirement after President Giscard's defeat in 1981 were it not for the perseverance of Bordeaux historian Michel Slitinsky, who narrowly escaped a Papon-ordered roundup. Mr. Slitinsky, whose father perished in Auschwitz, stumbled on documents revealing Mr. Papon's role and gave them to a newspaper for publication. Mr. Klarsfeld, the Nazi hunter, then fought to bring Mr. Papon to trial.Because of Mr. Papon's impeccable credentials, and efforts at the highest levels to shield him, the case dragged through France's complex legal system. In 1994, President Francois Mitterrand admitted in a television interview that he had intervened to stall the case.
Execrable. The longevity and prosperity of defiant, evil men like this makes my blood boil. That France covered for him--well, that's just beyond shameful.
And these are our allies.
