A Canticle For Lieberman
Dave thinks Lieberman's speech on Iraq today was one of the best on the Senate floor in his lifetime. That's a low standard, of course, since Senatorial oratory is notoriously banal. I can't think of a single memorable or significant speech on the Senate floor, period, right off hand.
So, Lieberman's leads the pack for me too. Dave's got the full text laid out and it's a barnburner. Sample:
The sectarian violence that the Majority Leader says he wants to order American troops to stop policing, in other words, is the very same sectarian violence that Al Qaeda hopes to ride to victory. The suggestion that we can draw a bright legislative line between stopping terrorists in Iraq and stopping civil war in Iraq flies in the face of this reality.Much plain speech at the link. It's history. Get in on it now.I do not know how to say it more plainly: it is Al Qaeda that is trying to cause a full-fledged civil war in Iraq.
