Sure, if You're a Skull-is-Half-Empty Kind of Researcher...
Heavy drinking ‘shrinks the brain’Consumption of large amounts of alcohol over a long period of time may shrink the brain, researchers say.
Excessive drinking appears to accelerate the natural reduction in brain size caused by ageing, according to brain scans of more than 1,800 people. The more people drank, regularly, the more that the ratio of brain volume to skull size fell, especially among older women.
But on the upside, the brain is getting denser and the synapse pathways are getting shorter, making the brain more efficient and leaving extra room in the brain case for more brains, more alcohol, or even luggage. Plus, when The Singularity comes, we'll need the extra space for hard drives and extra RAM.
Don't think of it as the brain shrinking; think of it as pre-evolving.
