Santa Cruz area dognapping investigated as possible terrorist incident
Up in the hills near Boulder Creek, California (a town with a very interesting brewpub I've written about before) there's a manhunt on. And a doghunt:
Sheriff's deputies are investigating the theft of a golden retriever in the Santa Cruz Mountains as a possible terrorist incident after finding an animal rights group's sticker where the dog was last seen.Randy Chapel got home from a two-week trip to Europe last week and reported his dog missing, his garage door bowed and the lock broken, and an unusual sticker pasted to the side door of the garage.
The sticker "Abuse an animal, go to jail" piqued the interest of two sheriff's deputies trained as terrorist liaison officers, who said the incident could be the work of activists unhappy about how the dog was treated.
The article notes that the incident has yet to be termed terrorism; it's just being investigated as such.
Also unsolved and yet to be termed terrorism around Santa Cruz: IEDs placed under cop cars, Easter church vandalism, and church burning.
Well, terrorists or no, I hope these folks get their dog back.
