Whoopsleedoodle! Steyr hunting a bust?

Remember those Austrian .50-cal sniper rifles that Iran had leaked to Shiite insurgents? Remember the breathless Daily Telegraph report about it? Remember how even the Wall Street Journal went Steyr crazy as well?

Yeah, apparently that didn't happen.

I bit into this story hard too. Just thinking about it this morning, wondering when they were going to match up those serial numbers from the recovered rifles and fling this in the IRGC's face. Well, Confederate Yankee's checked it out and the US military denies ever finding one of them. An official spokesman, plus two embedded reporters.

As for the Telegraph's Thomas Harding, I think there's some source-burning due. If someone sent me that far up the wrong tree, there would be hell to pay.
