Diplomad is back!

One of the best blogs of the 2004 election was run by a group of disgruntled State Department types. It was called the Diplomad, and it's back in business. Here's a taste:

The EU is basically about pensions, doles, and subsidies. That's just about it except for that other thing, you know, that peculiar hatred of "the Anglo-Saxon." What the hell the British -- owners of one of the greatest countries ever to appear on God's green earth -- are doing mixed up with the EU is something I cannot understand. Why would they want to throw in with that continental bunch of has-beens, never-weres, and never-will-bes? Why? The continental Europeans absolutely hate the Brits and their ties across the Atlantic. They are determined to humble Britain, destroy its uniqueness, and turn it into a province of a (ultimately doomed) Franco-German dominated empire. The Europeans have become quite insane. As their cities are taken over by Islamic lunatics, they prattle on about Global Warming (see above) and challenging the USA. They engage in absurd projects costing billions of overvalued Euros just to produce something that is BIGGER and more COMPLEX than anything made on this side of the Atlantic: the Airbus A380; the Galileo project; the drive to create a "European search engine" to rival Google; the Eurofighter (as one military pilot friend said, "A very, very good airplane . . . for the 1980s"); the vaunted French medical system which lets thousands of people die when the temperature rose a few degrees in August, and on and on and they do it without a tax payer revolt. Sheep, the EU is full of sheep. An empire of sheep in a world of wolves.

(I hope their comeback ends up better than that of New Sisyphus, another (former) Foggy Bottom blogger and a quite gifted writer, who reinvented himself as some sort of militant "nationalist" and seems pretty much overtaken by despair and futility.)
