Look For The Union Trackback

Shawn Macomber reports from Crazytown Yearly Kos and--you'll be surprised to hear this--has discovered people saying stupid things there. Jane "Firedoglake" Hamsher, who once hired a press secretary for her blog, for one saying something stupid yet revealing:

"That's our job," Hamsher retorted. "We're supposed to be shrill and self-destructive....We're going to stand on principle and hold that line because if we don't nobody does it."

Which the RNC appropriated without crediting Hot Air, by the way.

Anyway, one of the other goofy ideas: unionizing blogs. The Teamsters are on board. One woman laments that she's not able to quit her job and blog full time. My heart bleeds for her.

I think if you're a liberal and you see something good or effective, your first idea is to love it to death. You must immediately pass eight million regulations and establish a vast, sclerotic bureaucracy to protect it at the same time you throw it onto the operating table to graft your academic/historicist notions of progressive social justice into it. Conservatives tend to be surprised and suspicious when anything ever works at all, and run away from it and hide lest anyone breathe on it and screw the whole damn thing up. Hence the gay marriage debate, but that's another post.

Anyway, in marked contrast to that idiocy, Ace has gone the other way and opened up his whole blog to his regular commenters this weekend, letting them actually post things right there on the main page in front of God and everybody. These people are not professional bloggers and have had no training other than some hasty posts about no porn and not breaking the blog. That's right, scab labor! Let's go bust some heads!
