GWU "expulsion" talk originated with a Republican student

In two recent posts I've disputed the notion that officials of GWU called for the immediate expulsion of YAF members as a result of the libelous posters put up by a group of ridiculous leftist students. While GWU's president made some harrumphy noises about how they wouldn't tolerate that sort of thing, I don't see where he called for suspension or expulsion.* (He may very well have thought about it, but let's stick to the facts here.) The person only person who made those remarks, as far as I can tell, and correct me if I'm wrong, was Brand Kroeger, of whom the Wash Times wrote:

The Washington Times reported Wednesday that the university's Student Association Executive Vice President Brand Kroeger wrote a letter saying he would "support expulsion."
In the first post linked above, I mused that this was probably a student position on the equivalent of the Student Council, and therefore not an official of GWU.

Seems I was right. Here's Brand Kroeger, a GWU sophomore last year, defending America against a campus liberal's accusations of officially-approved torture, and speaking up for free enterprise.

This story is certainly not a tempest in a teapot. What the leftist smear merchants did is repugnant and I agree with Republican Brand Kroeger: they deserve expulsion not just for the racist attack but also for their libel of YAF. But let's not attribute what we can't prove to the GWU administration. And let's give GWU a chance to prove were telling the truth about not tolerating these hateful postings.

* Where the adminsitration did really screw up, as I said below, was in the e-mails from Bidgette Behling, who is not a student, and who asked YAF to sign some weird pledge to disavow future hate speech. As YAF President Ron Robinson replied:

You should issue an apology to the conservatives unfairly targeted. It was obvious that the fliers were spreading lies, but your administration, led by Bridgette Behling—the assistant director of the Student Activities Center—sent emails to the young conservatives pressuring them to sign statements disavowing any hate speech that may originate at any future Young America’s Foundation event.

That’s astonishing. Maybe she forgot that the presumption of innocence is an American hallmark? Or maybe your administration should pressure leftist groups to sign statements disavowing any future dirty tricks on conservatives?

UPDATE: Just a thought: have the moonbats who have actually admitted to posting these hateful posters been asked to sign anything or renounce anything by Ms. Behling? Maybe they have and I just haven't heard about it, but I'd like to hear about it.
