CAIR really doesn't want to be an unindicted co-conspirator anymore

Audrey Hudson, Action Journalist! and Bill Gertz, spy guy, note that CAIR is still whinging about being labeled an "unindicted co-conspirator" in the Holy Land Foundation trial. Now they're whinging to John Conyers about it:

CAIR officials have requested that Mr. Conyers ask the Justice Department to explain why it publicly identified the 306 co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation trial.

"Those on the list suffer negatively as a result of the label 'unindicted co-conspirator' as it impresses upon the typical member of the American public that those listed are involved in criminal activity," the group said in a letter to Mr. Conyers. "In reality, those so named have neither been charged with a crime nor offered any recourse for challenging the allegation."

The group said the conspirator designation is being used by counterterrorism advocates to block government funds from being used to conduct outreach programs to Muslim groups. Pending fiscal 2008 legislation would block the Justice Department from using any funds for participation in conferences sponsored by a group or person identified by the government as a criminal unindicted co-conspirator.

No recourse? They recently petitioned the court to remove their UnCoCo status. (Yeah, new word. Context clues are your friend.) And that petition is still alive, as the Wash Times explains, so what's CAIR's problem? I hope they're not trying to use politics to influence the course of justice. That would make me sad.

Of course, part of such a claim includes proving that there were actual damages done to the organization. And you guys remember this, right? To prove that their membership had been damaged by the UnCoCo label, CAIR turned to the peerless journalism of their bestest friend in the whole wide world, Wash Times reporter Audrey Hudson.

Why, you won't find a single negative thing on CAIR's website about Audrey Hudson. Anymore, that is.

I'm a little jealous.

RELATED: CAIR's not only fast-and-loose with its membership, it's fast-and-loose about the effectiveness of its boycotts. Apparently they have succeeded in scaring off three sponsors of the Michael Savage show that never actually sponsored the Michael Savage show.

A-HUD UPDATE: She weighs in on the latest Flying Imams ruling. One thing I hadn't seen elsewhere was that the judge threw out their emotional distress and discrimination based on blindness claims.
