Pat Robertson's desperate plea for relevance
The media rushes to cover the endorsement of Pat Robertson like he matters. He has about as many followers who take him seriously within the Republican party as the Rev. Al Sharpton does in the Democratic party. The media likes both of them because they generate controversy for a living. Regular people don't.
I moved from ambivalence to active dislike of Rev. Robertson about the same time Rod Dreher did.
Paul Weyrich's endorsement of Mitt Romney impresses me. Chuck Colson's thoughts deserve a respectful hearing. Marvin Olasky's thoughts on the race interest me. James Dobson's clumsy flounderings and attempts to emerge as the Evangelical Kingmaker have made me tune out his politics, although I still listen to what he has to say about raising kids.
As for Robertson, I think he'll be baggage dragging Rudy down.
