"Their shrieky, freaky Messiah"

The recent disclosures of Ron Paul's old newsletters show how he has benefited all this time from a not-even-subtle collusion with the Larouchian fringe, and now he wants to pretend he never knew them and officer, that's not my pot, some dude just asked me to hold his jacket and it was in there.

I find it difficult to discuss the odd ducks who refuse to see the light about Ron Paul's ongoing Jew-baiting, Black-fearing, Art Bell-level conspiracy mongering without resorting to some serious profanity. Fortunately Ace is under no such constraints. Rant one here, rant two here, both cathartic and highly recommended.

UPDATE: Red Eye's Andrew Levy: Ron Paul actually makes me glad libertarians don’t have a good name, cuz he’d be sullying the crap out of it if we did.

MORNING UPDATE: Cuffy notes that at least one prominent Paul supporter is urging him not to run from the newsletters, but to own it, baby!

Finally, someone has said it: Ron Paul is the new Lyndon Larouche. He comes complete with the entire Larouche mindset: conspiracy theories and crackpot ideas (“We shouldn’t have fought the Civil War”), all served with a huge dose of anti-Semitism. No wonder Pat Buchanon is a big supporter.

Daivid Duke himself (?) weighs in at my blog. Uh oh.
