Der Triumph Des Will.I.Am
Remember the See-Dad's call to me the other night saying Obama's victory speech was "like a Nazi rally"? Well, maybe he exaggerated. But maybe he didn't.
I don't think people have commented enough quite how deeply freaking sphincter-clenching CREEPY this new, "unofficial" ad is. Watch the new star-studded, Will.I.Am Obamessiah video, with everyone chanting his name and bobbing their heads and even holding up gigantic posters. Then watch the one right below it.
That's from Cabaret, which (being a heterosexual male) I've not seen, but thanks to commenter Sally at Neo-Neocon for that comparison. And thanks to Hot Air commenter gridlock2 for the title idea. If you didn't catch the reference, here you go.
...this was exactly why he wanted me to do it: because anyone who knew all about the relative importance of the various people and groups and so on might make a film that would be pedantically accurate, but this was not what he wanted. He wanted a film showing the Congress through a non-expert eye, selecting just what was most artistically satisfying — in terms of spectacle, I suppose you might say. He wanted a film which would move, appeal to, impress an audience which was not necessarily interested in politics." -- Leni Riefenstahl

Frank Tomasulo comments that in Triumph, "Hitler is cast as a veritable German Messiah who will save the nation, if only the citizenry will put its destiny in his hands."
"...he's almost like a...revival...for a lot of people's souls." 2:24 into the Obama video.
P.S. "I just want to live in a world without fear." Jesu---um, Obama H. Obama on a popsicle stick! And I want a pony. And some free bubble up, and some rainbow stew, and a silver spoon to eat it with.
Your naivete will kill us all.
P.P.S. I'm not calling Obama a Nazi. But am I calling his followers cultists?

What do you think?
