JYB News Bureau interviews Obama's grandmother
The JYB News Bureau was intrigued by Barack Obama's description of the complex figure of his own grandmother in the speech he gave today about his association with the odious Rev. Wright:
I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community. I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother - a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.
She sounded like a complex, high-spirited lady, and a worthy subject for one of our interviews. The JYB News Bureau reporter was able to catch up with Sen. Obama's strong-willed grandmother, but the interview...did not go well, to say the least. Short video here, with a strong content warning.
She apologized later, thanked us for getting rid of that awful Mongo, and brought us a pie.
