Subsitute “Hamas fighters” with “Catholics.” Think they’d publish that headline?
Or “Jews”
Or “Hindus”
Or “Buddhists.”
Certainly not, but terrorists get the benefit of the doubt from al-Reuters.
Biased bastards.
Sunshine is the best cure. Who said “Freedom of speech lets us spot the idiots?” The average reader will see that, and find that the theology grates, however subtly and subconsciously.
The word God should be in quotation marks in that headline.
So should “fighters”, Soccermom.
How about a modified headline and some different text: “Inspired by Satan, Hamas terrorists continue to slaughter the unarmed and innocent”
”…While desperately avoiding fighting Israeli soldiers, even degenerating to hiding behind their own women and children, Hamas continues lobbing unguided rockets at the nearby Israeli village of Sderot. While very few Israelis are actually harmed or killed, the terrorist rockets have been taking their toll on the mental well-being of Sderot’s residents. That mental toll and any claim Hamas may attempt to make to being civilized human beings are the two principle consequences, the two most significant casualties.
Much of Europe’s chattering classes make an obscene false moral equivalence between Israeli efforts at measured self-defense and Hamas bloody-mindedness. Many even outright say, or write, that it is Israel that is the villain. This viewpoint from Europe is thirty centuries of Judeo-Christian morality, the Renaissance, Reformation and Enlightment, all turned upside-down. On a certain level, these Europeans are no less despicable than the Hamas terrorists.”
