Christian Dating Service Unclear on the Concept

For some reason, not really sure why, my eye was caught by a new banner ad at Julie R. Neidlinger's fine blog. Here's a screencap; I've knocked off the name of the company because their ad tactics are a little...well, I dunno, what do you think?

Today's verse: Song of Solomon 4:5

I fully understand the company's need to put an attractive model on their ads. It's not that she's attractive; it's how they're presenting her. To make my point a little more clearly: I'd think people--women people, particularly--would want to sign up for a Christian dating service precisely because it would tend to weed out the most egregious horndogs. I don't think this ad campaign quite accomplishes that.

Maybe they're just angling for the Reverend Brown's congregation.

You have a point. What caught my eye is the “Free Profile” right above her. Not sure why… heh

I can see at least two pretty compelling reasons to sign up.

So- Christian men can’t like big bazoombas? Just admiring God’s handiwork.

Admiring is one thing. But if you’re going to sell a Christian dating service, maybe you should try to appeal beyond the Eliot Spitzer demographic.
