Lawyers Suing 9/11 Victims
John Conyers' words, not mine:
Rep. John Conyers Jr., Michigan Democrat and chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said construction workers were sent into the disaster without protection in a "do-it-yourself approach."That's from a report by JYB's favorite muckraker, Audrey Hudson (who was on the Dennis Miller show, talking about the lady who had to remove her nipple ring with pliers in order to board a plane. AH admitted it was "titillating", which got a giggle out of Dennis. As did her line that it might have been a "booby trap".)"Now cancer and lung disease is ravaging these survivors, and the city is in an adversarial stance against the victims of an environmental tragedy," Mr. Conyers said.
"What has really turned out to be the case is the lawyers are suing the victims," he said.
The article's interesting because Congress is worried about trial lawyers raiding the World Trade Center Insurance Fund which they established in 2003, to relieve city workers who became ill cleaning up the WTC wreckage. Congress ought to be worried. I just wished they showed a similar concern about granting immunity from lawsuits to the telecoms that helped wiretap terrorists. No such luck.
